Jollof

Post-Imperial

This collection is inspired by Jollof, the rice dish prepared by most West African countries. Known by many names, it has become a bridge— a symbolic ice-breaker of sorts for when these different communities come together. The fabric choices in this collection highlight Jollof's color and texture and capture and emote the sense of intimacy, warmth, and comfort one feels in a community. Lubaina Himid's works, which illustrate people in the African diaspora in the community, also inform the collection.
