That Time I Wanted to be Seen By…
Post-Imperial
The collection is a reflection of a poem I wrote during the pandemic, expressing my longing to be seen. I delved into the tools and spaces used in rituals and practices by those who also seek recognition from gods and forces. From religious and community spaces like the Greater Refuge Temple in Harlem and the Gando School, built by Francis Kere in Burkina Faso, to the use of cowry shells and beads in shamanic and divination practices.
